        Homeless Watch
           Survey 2007

The 2007 Homeless Watch survey will take place from Monday 24^th September – Sunday 7^th October and will be the fourth annual snapshot survey of homelessness in Nottinghamshire. Homeless Watch is now a key source of information about homelessness in the County. The report which follows the survey will make recommendations from the findings and these will be used to inform a number of local strategies, including district homelessness strategies and the Supporting People strategies for Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.

The Homeless Watch survey is carried out on behalf of all of the local authorities in Nottinghamshire, including Nottingham City and is overseen by a steering group consisting of representatives from each of the local authorities across the County, as well as Nottinghamshire County Council, Supporting People, the Rural Community Council and HLG.

We would like even more organisations than last year to take part to help us to get the widest possible perspective on homelessness in Nottinghamshire. Invitations are currently being sent out inviting organisations to take part in this year’s survey and we would urge all organisations to sign up to take part, even if you do not see many homeless people. Completing the survey form is mainly a tick box exercise and only takes a few minutes per person

The main report for this year’s survey is due to be published in February 2008 and we will be preparing summary reports for each of the eight district authorities in the County as we did last year.

Given the importance being attached to the survey by the key statutory agencies, we need as many agencies as possible to take part in the survey. Remember, we are just as interested in those agencies which see no homeless people during the survey fortnight.
