This highly experiential one day course is a practical, hands-on introduction to the main principles and techniques of Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). Solution Focused Therapy focuses on potentials and strengths already within the client. SFT makes no assumptions about past ‘causes’ of difficulties, instead it looks at what would be helpful in the future.
The training is designed to provide some positive new skills and strategies to facilitate change. This can be in a variety of roles, for example, counselling, key working, assessing or advising. Solution Focused Therapy offers a positive way of approaching communication and problem solving.
Course content includes:
• The essential toolkit of Solution Focused Therapy
• How to ask powerful questions that promote change
• How to elicit clear goals that motivate and empower clients
• Eliciting strengths and solutions that are already within people
• An appreciation of how SFT differs from other counselling approaches
• Benefits of using SFT and how it may be well suited to situations where time is limited
