Professional Boundaries
Staff understanding of their professional boundaries can be a difficult area for organizations to manage. Staff work closely with vulnerable people and it is essential that your clients rights and interests are respected and that the work undertaken fully reflects your organizations ethos.
Unfortunately if staff make mistakes the consequences can often be serious, potentially involving an organisation in legal action, major expense and a severe loss of reputation as well as disrupting or harming the professional relationship with a client.
Aim
To increase staff understanding of the personal and professional boundaries that are part of their work.
Objectives
By the end of the course staff will;
• Understand the requirements and expectations about professional boundaries contained in Best Practice Frameworks.
• Be able to discuss why boundaries are important in their work.
• Be able to identify positive behaviour in relation to their personal boundaries.
• Understand negative behaviour in relation to boundaries.
• Be able to cite a range of behaviours that may suggest an individuals boundaries are becoming inappropriate.
• Be able to use a range of methods to raise concerns, seek advice and information about boundaries.
