Needs Assessment, Risk Assessment & Support Planning
This course is aimed at project staff who are responsible for needs assessment, risk assessment and support planning. The course style is participative, and aims to focus onto the context and needs of the participants.
Aim
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be competent in assessing and planning for the support needs of their service users.
Objectives
By the end of the course participants will;
• Be aware of the advantages and limitations of assessment and support planning
• Understand why risk assessment is an important tool in ensuring a safe working environment.
• Understand the legal and contractual framework within which needs assessment, risk assessment and support planning is undertaken.
• Have practised the basic steps in assessment and drawing up a support plan.
• Understand the importance of partnership working and confidentiality.
• Know about relevant models of change.
• Have reviewed key communication skills.
• Be aware of key issues about equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practise within the assessment and planning process.
• Be aware of options of how best to involve service users in the assessment and support planning process.
• Carry out a client focused risk, needs assessment and support plan.
