Helping Clients into Work or Training
Course Aim
This 2 day experiential course is aimed at professionals who are motivating and encouraging people back to work or training. Evidence points to the advantages for individuals and society arising from work. Yet for many people there can be practical and psychological barriers. Government initiatives aimed at this area are likely to bring important changes.
This course draws from Positive Psychology approaches and will be useful to those who work with clients to overcome psychological and emotional obstacles. We will be exploring strategies to enable clients manage the transition to work or training. In difficult times it is more important than ever to empower people to consider opportunities and all that they have to offer so that no one is written off.
Course Content Includes
• Helping people deal with anxiety related to new situations and unfamiliar tasks
• Supporting those whose loss of self-belief can be a key obstacle to progression
• Exploring the advantages of work and countering unhelpful beliefs
• Identifying the constituent skills needed to get back to work or training
• A range of strategies for building confidence, self-esteem and motivation
• Communication skills aimed at reducing resistance
