HIV & HEP B

You may already be working with someone who is HIV or Hepatitis positive, so it is essential to know the fasts. This one-day training course is an opportunity to learn accurate, up to the minute information on HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis A,B and C from the specialist HIV/Sexual Health Training Team at Nottingham City PCT’s Health Promotion Department. We will look at how HIV and Hepatitis are transmitted and provide an opportunity to look at safe practices both in a work and a social setting.

We will also consider the implications of HIV medication and how it can impact on lifestyles; and what services there are in the Nottingham are for people infected and affected by HIV.

Course Aim:

The aim of the course is to reduce fear and increase knowledge/confidence to maximise workers’ capacity to deal with difficult infection control situations.

Course Content:

• Recognise the difference between HIV,AIDS & Hepatitis
• Understand routes of transmission
• Assess risk in order to protect yourself against infection
• Have a better understanding of the implications of living with HIV/Hepatitis
• Signpost clients on to relevant services
• Deal more effectively with related incidents
