Facilitation
Facilitation is a key management and life skill. A skilled facilitator provides structure and process to enable groups to function effectively and make high-quality decisions without simply giving advice or offering solutions.
Aim
This one-day course is highly participative and designed to help delegates achieve a practical understanding of the process and skills required to facilitate different group situations.
It is suitable for anyone with responsibility for managing any type of group, workshop or meeting including team meetings and service user participation groups. It is also appropriate for anyone representing their organisation with the aim of developing relationships with the wider sector and / or community. It is not suitable for anyone looking to develop their skills in running effective meetings as it focuses on group dynamics.
Course content includes:
• Developing clear ground-rules
• Determining when and how Icebreakers and energisers are appropriate
• Identifying and managing different expectations
• How to recognise and manage different group dynamics
• The importance of communicating clearly, confidently and assertively
• Practising handling difficult situations
• Achieving consensus
