Understanding & Managing Equality & Diversity

Awareness of equality and diversity in organisations is an asset. It can lead to strength, creativity and team spirit.

This highly participative one-day course will explore issues relating to equality and diversity and identify effective working practices. It will also give an overview of the 2010 Equality Act, new legislation which merged nine former pieces into one Act.

Through exercises and practical scenarios, it will enable participants to learn how to deal with equality issues and review or develop the Equality and Diversity policy of their organisation.

Aims and objectives

To enable participants to

1. Define and understand concepts relating to equality and diversity.
2. Appreciate the benefits of equality and diversity.
3. Include equality in the strategy of the organisation.
4. Become familiar with the new Equality Act and applying the relevant law to specific situations.
5. Explore equality and diversity related issues in the work place and find solutions.
6. Understand/Develop Equality and Diversity policy of their organisation and challenge discriminatory behaviour from colleagues and clients.
