Equality, Diversity, Rights & Housing
Awareness of race, culture and other diversity is an important part of our work. It can lead to strength, creativity and team spirit within any organisation.
This one day course explores equality, diversity and rights based legislation and good practice. It considers the impact on work with general needs and supported housing customers within housing organisations. The course covers UK and EU legislative requirements and also considers the practicalities of meeting and exceeding Audit Commission and Supporting People standards in relation to customer service delivery.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course participants will;
• Define concepts of Equality, Diversity and Rights in relation to themselves, their work and organisation.
• Understand the positives and issues of Equality, Diversity and Rights legislation for customers and staff when delivering services.
• Know the key components of UK and European Equality and Rights legislation and how this legislation impacts on the work of frontline staff.
• Understand the necessity and importance of monitoring and evaluating performance.
• Be aware of the practical changes that have to be considered when developing services to customers.
• Develop and practice skills and acquire confidence in questioning, addressing and leading discussions with customers on issues of Equality, Diversity and Rights
