Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Stage 2
Course Aim
THIS FOLLOW UP COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ATTENDED THE INTRODUCTION TO CBT ONE DAY COURSE.
CBT is increasingly being used as an approach to providing “talking therapies” for people who are experiencing a range of psychological issues in society.
This experiential, one day course will allow participants to deepen their knowledge and practice a range of techniques used in CBT in order to help people change unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns which may be holding them back.
The objectives and contents:

Exploring some common misconceptions about CBT

Considering levels of cognitions, NATs, dysfunctional assumptions and core beliefs/schemas

Knowledge of the importance of actively involving clients in the CBT model to motivate and promote changeIn small groups, explore techniques used in CBT such as “zig zag”, “vicious circles” and “thought diaries”

Exploring some new trends in CBT including “mindfulness” and guided visualisations and simple relaxation technique
