Basic Counselling Skills
This two day experiential skills based course, is aimed at anyone working in a keyworking, advising or enabling capacity.
People who work closely with clients but are not trained counsellors can utilise simple counselling skills to further streamline their communication and so enhance effectiveness and outcomes.
This course draws upon a range of approaches including Person Centred Counselling, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Therapy and Coaching models; enabling participants to apply new strategies to their everyday role.
Course content includes:
• How therapeutic conversations differ from everyday conversations
• How the principles and skills of counselling can used to support whatever your role might be
• Essential listening and communication skills to make work flow even better
• Establishing and strengthening rapport
• Assisting clients to explore problems positively
• Understanding appropriate boundaries in a helping relationship
