Administration of Medication
Overview
This 3 hour course is aimed at non-clinically trained workers who need to be familiar with the relevant legislation and guidelines surrounding the administration of medication to adults within a non-hospital setting. The course also covers issues such as self-medication, observation of side-effects, and safe storage and recording of medications. Delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance confirming that their course has been delivered in accordance with the Learning Outcomes in the Knowledge Set for Medication (Skills for Care, 2005) as required by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
• Outline the key legislation, local policies and guidelines appropriate to adults in residential care
• Describe the importance of safe storage and record-keeping with regard to medications
• Demonstrate the ability the administer medicines to vulnerable people safely and appropriately
