Housing Benefit Backdating Reductions |
You may or may not be aware of the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) proposals to cut the time-period a person can backdate a claim for Housing and Council Tax Benefits and Pension Credits will be reduced from 52 to 13 weeks from October 2008.
If these proposals go ahead they will have a significant effect upon, and may well undermine, homeless prevention work.
The Citizens’ Advice Bureau is actively campaigning to prevent the proposals from going ahead.
Attached (below) is a model letter for people to use to lobby their local MP to sign an Early Day Motion in the Houses of Parliament to prevent the proposal.
HLG urges all members to sign and send this letter to your local MP.
