Mental Health - Depression & Anxiety

Despite the prevalence of ‘common mental health problems’ in our society, there are misunderstandings about conditions such as Depression and Anxiety. Often people in psychological distress will present with a bewildering range of symptoms which are not easy to diagnose by professionals. This can make accessing help and treatment difficult, causing problems for the person, family and carers. This one day course is designed for those who have attended basic awareness training and wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of these Mental Health Issues.

This course can help anyone working with people experiencing mental health problems to be more effective in their interactions and have a greater sense of the options and services available in the management and treatment of Depression and Anxiety.

Course objectives and content:
• Recognising Depression and Anxiety ( Including DSM IV)
• Exploring types of Depression, prevalence in society and stigma
