Recruitment, Management & Development of Volunteers

Volunteers can bring huge benefits to an organisation and, with their unique viewpoint, they can often provide valuable insights into the services provided. They also bring a responsibility to the organisation to manage and develop their skills. There are many practical issues to consider, including the implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and agreements. These issues and the question of how best to recruit and retain the right volunteers, how to support, supervise and train them, are all considered in this practical course. This workshop is suitable for employers, employees, managers, volunteer coordinators and trustees.

Course Content:

• Why involve volunteers in your organisation?
• Benefits and impact of using volunteers
• Recruitment and retention of volunteers
• Support and supervision of volunteers
• Policies and procedures
• Volunteer agreements
• Practical matters, including legislation, benefits, expenses, insurance, volunteers from overseas
