The Accommodation Access Team provides housing
advice and ongoing support to help homeless and vulnerably housed
people find accommodation, including referrals to hostels, accessing
private rented housing and completing council applications.
Projects within the team include:
The Young
Person's Housing Worker
The Refugee Accommodation Worker
The Young
Persons' Housing Worker
The Young Persons' Housing Worker post is funded by Connexions and offers
ongoing advice and assistance to any
16–19 year olds within Greater Nottingham who are homeless or having
housing difficulties. The project helps young people resolve
their housing problems through accessing a range of accommodation
including emergency hostels, supported housing, Housing Associations
and Local Authority tenancies. Young
people can self refer to the project or be referred by an agency and
the Young Persons' Housing Worker also runs a weekly drop-in at
Connexions.
The worker uses a flexible approach to meet the needs of each young
person and offers practical support by assisting young people to
complete housing application forms, attend housing interviews, view
properties and set up new tenancies. The worker can also provide
telephone advice on young peoples' housing issues to other agencies
and can use interpreters with non-English speaking young people.
To make a referral to the Young Persons' Housing
Worker please contact HLG on 0115 9565313 or pop in to Nottingham
Connexions on Carlton Street to find out about drop-in times.

The
Refugee Accommodation Worker
The Refugee Accommodation Project began in January 2004 and was
initially funded by the European Refugee Fund. The worker
supports refugees in Nottingham City who have not been accepted as
being in priority need under the homelessness legislation. The
worker helps refugees to find suitable accommodation and prevent
homelessness. Referrals can be made via any agency but the
majority of referrals are self referrals. The worker uses
interpreters with non-English speakers and provides ongoing support to
help refugees access their most suitable housing options. The
worker has close links with local authority housing offices to secure
council tenancies for refugees and can link refugees who need
resettlement support with the Nottingham City Council Refugee START
team and other specialist floating support agencies. To make a
referral to the Refugee Accommodation Worker please contact HLG on
0115 9565313.
